37.7167° N, 25.4210° W is a body of work ranging in many mediums: analogue
photography, printmaking, video, textile work. It is a window into my unique yet
relatable "condition”, which is that of a first-generation American yearning for home.
My parents immigrated from the Azorean island of São Miguel, where my mother's
family still resides. This exhibition is but a glimpse of my connection to this little
island in the middle of the Atlantic ocean.
Feelings of despair, longing, familial love, and Azorean culture are interconnected while traversing many mediums. Once these connections click, they may feel familiar... like home.
